What to do in Port Douglas: Stay and Discover

We had the perfect getaway escaping freezing cold Canberra and embarked on a #wintervention - we headed up North to Port Douglas. My husband, Paul and I were in desperate need for some sun and a thorough catch up with friends! This post is about sharing some of the awesome discoveries we made while being in Port Douglas.

There is so much to do and not so much to do (by choice) – if you just want to relax and lay out. I think we had the perfect combination of both. It is not too late to plan your very own #wintervention to Far North Queensland!

We stayed at the QT Hotel, Port Douglas – THE most fun and exciting place to stay in Port Douglas. Great get away for a couples retreat – resort style. It was pure bliss.

There is so much to do: hire bikes, play table tennis, get a massage and lay out in the sun - drinking cocktails and float on flamingos (my fave). All Paul and I wanted to do was give our skin a massive dose of vitamin D! It was so cool because when we arrived the pool party had just begun, this meant all our fave Spring/Summer beats were in our ears! Best welcome eveR!
On Saturday morning we took our time and had fruit breakfast by the pool. We then strolled up to Macrossan St to Betty’s Bohemian Cafe to feed our caffeine addiction.
Then we were picked up from our hotel to board Sailaway’s luxury catamaran to Low Isles on a half day tour. We had an ah-mazing time exploring the great barrier reef. We snorkelled till our skin got wrinkly and managed to name a few fish from the movie, ‘Finding Nemo'. We experienced a beautiful sunset, we loved with sailing with Sailaway! They spoilt us with endless canapés and delicious drinks.
We laid out A-LOT – the whole purpose of our trip was to relax, lay out by the pool and sip on cocktails.
To conclude this amazing trip, Paul organised a lovely dinner at the Watergate restaurant. We ate ourselves silly with every seafood dish. This place is definitely worth checking out, the interiors made you feel like you were in the jungle, not to mention the quality of food was delicious.

Our getaway was magical, Port Douglas is an incredible and beautiful place to visit and take on a #wintervention. We loved the endless activities, restaurants and the cute little boutique stores. You should make your next desination, Port Douglas! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

A big thank you to QT Hotel, Port Douglas and Sailaway for hosting us! You made our trip such a memorable one, see you next year in 2018!
Editor’s note: I was a guest at the QT Hotel, Port Douglas and on board Sailaway’s luxury catamaran.
