My winning dress for the races: The trends, dresses and accessories

Sponsored by Canberra Centre
It's that time of the year again where my email enquiries go through the roof in search for the perfect, on-trend AND comfortable look!

I know you are all nodding your heads while you read my words. I also want to put in the mix that what I wear, will also be wearable to other occasions. For work, weekend frolicking and brunch with the girls.
This post is about giving you some style inspo for the races or race events. A snap shot of where to buy your outfit and what trends to look for!

I really hope it helps, event shopping can be stressful that's is why we (Canberra Centre and I) thought it would a great idea to help guide you through racing season. In this post I will cover, what stores to check out for each trend and how to wear the dress beyond the races (to work etc.).

You're welcome! X
As soon as I walked in to Portman's I knew that the 55 Orchid print was for me! Linen, light with orchid flowers AND structure? I mean was this dress made for me?!

The dress

When searching for the perfect dress for the races, don't experiment too much. This is where you can get in to trouble.

Stick to your style personality and if you wear structure in you day-to-day wear it, now is not the time to buy floaty dress. You will regret it!

Dress tips, get inspired

Double print-on-print (top and skirt combos).
Try Marcs, Saba and H&M.
Colour blocking head to shoe.
Try Bardot, Cue and David Jones.
*  A floral classic dress, skimming the knees is a must.
Try Portman's, Forever New, and Zara.

Accessories

Head bands and hat are back AND I am in love! They are all the rage at the moment. The bigger the brim the bigger the statement!

Make a statement and plan on wearing these:
* BIG and BOLD hair clips
* Headbands (in summer fabrics). Think silk, linen and ribbon
Hats with huge brims
* White strappy, tie-up heels
* Colourful clutches

If you're worried about people turning up in the same dress as you!

DON'T.

We all have our own style, they we accessories with; earrings, a bag, shoes, lipstick and hair clips. It will be a different look.

How to wear the dress to work

Add a white blazer and switch up your shoes. From strappy heels to pumps (closed toe).
