DAY 1 FASHFEST HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1 of Fashfest is done and dusted and the experience certainly lived up to the hype. The new venue provided and even more glamorous setting than regular Fashfest goers have been accustomed to, beautiful  drapes of white fabric fell to the ground from the ceiling, champagne was flowing at the Moet bar and the crowd was buzzing with Canberra’s most stylish.

The team from TFV including two of our fabulous new contributors scouted the room for our favourite looks from the evening and were eagerly awaiting to  view new collections by some of our favourite local designers including ZiyahLuke Chiswell and Perpetually Five + Clare and the anticipation only got heightened when we entered the 45 metre glossy white runway!

Ziyah
Fashfest kicked off with a bang by selecting swimwear label Ziyah as the opening act. The collection was a stand out in a monochrome and mint colour palette with a contrast of strong cut lines and flowing resort style gowns that transported us from chilly Canberra to a pool bar in sunny Rio. The garments were really well constructed and the collection was
beautifully cohesive and left us wanting more.
Luke Chiswell
A runway show should always have an element of surprise and Luke Chiswell surprised us with his incredible collection of muslin pieces which could be worn as ensemble or as separates and were geniously styled with hipster beanies and flower facemasks. Luke Chiswell certainly made a strong statement without steering away from his artistic talent which featured throughout his garments.

Perpetually Five + Clare

The much anticipated collaboration between Perpetually Five and Clare hit the mark with the fabulous quirkiness Perpetually Five is well-known for and the innovative detail Clare does so well. The collection is tailored for the bold fashionista who relishes in avant-garde style and the heavy black palette made the pieces wearable teamed up with classic items from your wardrobe. The oversized animal masks provided the wow factor we were sure we would see from Perpetually Five’s unique flair.

We also loved The Prodigal Daughter’s collection for her cultural references throughout her bright and colourful collection. The mixed patterns and vibrant colours were pleasing to the eye and her garments were cut in a variety of different silhouettes.
